Introduction

The Digital Enterprise Program (DEP) has been envisioned as a Corporate Initiative to facilitate a transformation of the company from a departmental, document-centric, and function/discipline optimized EPC execution model to an integrated, data-centric, and TIC optimized EPC execution model. Key aspects of DEP are: Digital (Data Centric), Enterprise (Integrated & Standardized) and Program (Transformative). Data-Centric Execution (DCE) is the methodology of creating, processing, managing, controlling and delivering information in the medium of data rather than via documents. The focus of DEP is the transformation of EPC Work Process, Tools, team member roles and responsibilities to support the transfer of trust and authority of information from documents to data resulting in a step change in project performance (craft time on tools).

DEP Business Analyst

The DEP Business Analyst fulfills a key role in the Master Data Management (MDM) Data Model team to assess business requirements in the development of enterprise data models as a foundational component of Bechtel’s digital transformation.  The Business Analyst role will work closely with cross functional work process SMEs, Data Engineers, Data Modelers and Data Scientist in the design, development and implementation of our future state data architecture.

Essential Duties (Scope):

This role will rationalize work process business requirements to support the development of conceptual, logical and physical data models.  The role must ensure that the resulting data models accurately represent the requirements of our work process.  The key objectives for this role are to:

• Deliver our future state Semantic and Canonical models, implemented with MDM and Data Governance processes and systems.
• Understand and apply the future state modeling paradigms and methodologies in combination with an understanding of EPC commodities and processes in the development of data model requirements.
• Work with the Data Model Lead, IxP Leads and the Data Engineer Lead in the decomposition of work processes and provide them with technical guidance and classifications of typical EPC facility items and information items.
• Develop test plan and user acceptance criteria for the resulting data models and associated metadata.
• Provide guidance to EPC Automation configuration personnel and software developers for the implementation of the future state data architecture.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
• 10-13 years Project, functional, IS&T or automation experience;
• 5+ years project deployed experience;
• Cross GBU and or cross Functional experience;
• Understanding data centric process and systems;
• Experience with Engineer application system’s schemas and data models;
• Familiarity of functional processes and systems, applications for engineering and constructions methods and materials, usage of engineering applications to produce deliverables;
• Good understanding of the information lifecycle of project data – how information is exchanged between functions/disciplines and ownership of data transitions throughout the life of a project; who the owner of trusted data is at any point in a project;
• Business understanding for data usage and consumption patterns;
• Understanding of EPC work process automation; good understanding of the link between work process and tools; strong skills around using tools to create, view and edit data;
• Experience working with SQL, No-SQL or Graph type databases;
• Ability to develop and deliver data requirements as part of an overall team, or working under your own supervision;
• Naturally curious and strong desire to solve problems;
• Intuitive ability to analyze and integrate data to solve analytical problems;
• Understand modern data architectures (cloud platforms, data services;
• Clear communication of complex methods in layman’s terms;
• Business understanding for data usage and consumption patterns; and
• Ability to think out of the box and questioning everything

Preferred Requirements:

• 10+ years’ experience in the EPC industry;
• Six Sigma certification;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills;
• Knowledge around data integration and master data management shall be a plus;
• Strong leadership skills, team management skills;
• Having worked in more than one function/Business unit shall be a plus;
• Software development experience in scripting and or software program development languages;
• Experience and or understanding of process modeling;
• Experience and or understanding of work processes and data analytics; and
• Design thinking and Innovative thought-process.
