POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety Manager is responsible for the execution of the Plant Safety Compliance program overseeing
the safety and wellbeing of employees in Plant Operations. Works closely with the Regional Production
Manager, Plant Manager(s) and Safety Specialists as a dedicated resource and leader to provide,
implement, and improve the safety culture and focus, and proactively work to identify and correct
present hazards in the work place. This role is a combination of understanding MSHA safety requirements
and setting standards for the company workforce.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
1. Provide support and direction to employees within the safety department
2. Develop and implement a plant-wide safety training program
3. Stay abreast of the latest regulations, laws and trends for government regulatory agencies and
industry sources
4. Ensure Safety Program is in compliance with state and federal safety standards and regulations.
5. Recommend and lead safety measures to help protect employees from potentially hazardous work
methods, processes, or materials
6. Assist Managers and Safety Specialists with accident investigations to improve reporting,
investigation findings, root-cause analysis and case management for reducing incident rates and
costs
7. Identify trends in workers compensations claims to determine areas for increased safety training
and emphasis on accident prevention
8. Perform gap analysis and improvement planning of current plant safety practices and processes
9. Develop execution plan to close identified gaps to reduce risk and improve plant operation safety
function
10. Create and deploy policies, procedures, and practices and ensure effective and consistent application
of the plant safety program
11. Develop Key Performance Indicators for safety planning, implementation and monitoring
12. Regularly assess operational conformance with safety requirements outlined in plant safety program
13. Create and deploy a continuous learning process that determines and disseminates lessons learned
from company and industry incidents to create better practices workforce performance
14. Maintain and gather necessary data and submit required reporting
15. Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and developing employees
16. Prepares performance evaluations of direct reports, providing counseling on methods of improving
performance and disciplining employees when necessary, enforcing company systems, policies and
procedures

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
1. Bachelor of Science preferred
Experience & Skills:
1. Minimum of five (5) years safety related work experience in the non-metallic mining
and/or aggregates sector that provides knowledge of theories, principles and concepts.
2. Must possess experience in frac sand
3. Experience managing/leading teams
4. Ability to interpret regulatory agency guidance, policy, and regulations.
5. Proficient understanding of MSHA regulation in an industrial setting
6. Comfortable working in an industrial plant environment; need to be hands-on and
frequently active in plant operations
7. Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
8. Able and willing to travel overnight up to 50%. This position will require overnight travel
from time to time. The duration of these travel assignments could be up to two week
